The usual frustration with custom orders begins long before production: a shadow crosses the paper, an edge is cropped, the photograph is too dark or the image has been filtered until the original colour disappears.
A practical way to choose
- Place the drawing flat in indirect daylight.
- Photograph from directly above, with all four edges visible.
- Turn off beauty filters, portrait mode and heavy editing.
- Take one full image and one closer image of the detail that matters most.
Keep the meaning, not the volume
If a mark is faint, do not redraw it from memory. Include a note about the faint area and let the preparation process preserve what is actually there.
A personal mark does not need to be perfect to be worth keeping. It needs to remain recognizably human.
Before you make it physical
Use a clear photograph or scan, keep the original safe, and be specific about the detail you do not want changed. If the mark will be translated for a physical material, a proof gives you a chance to check scale, placement and character before production.
